There were two dwarf palms in the flower beds on both sides of my pool within the lanai when we bought this house. After the frost last winter, we had quite a bit of damage to plants outside the lanai. A new landscaper we hired said we needed to move the dwarf palms outside the cage because their root systems would eventually interfere with the plumbing on one side of the pool. He transplanted both of them outside the lanai cage, and one of them didn’t survive the move. I loved those palms on both sides of my pool and hate what he put there instead. Is it true that dwarf palms shouldn’t be used near the pool plumbing?
Hi Mike. Unfortunately, anything can damage plumbing. Since one of them died, I think he didn’t transplant them correctly. I love dwarf palms and it is very sad that you lost one of them. ~Susan Brian
