Hi there. Some trees never produce any fruits. It all depends on the variety you have. ~Susan Brian

We have had a coconut palm that we grew from the coconut 14 years ago. It is VERY healthy, but has never produced any fruit. It is taller than our 2 story house and the trunk is very thick. The fronds are huge. I just can't figure out why it will not produce fruit. We are in Soutwest Florida, and there are coconut palms everywhere - no excuses on the climate. People are cutting their coconuts out consantly to keep them from damaging property during storms. I just want some fruit.

Try it, but protect from anything close to 32f and do not water much in winter. Most people will tell you it will die, as most of them do here in california. There is one that has been in Newport beach, CA for about 23 years and has a trunk, but that one is onje of the very few that actually survive longer than 3 years. Problem is the pro-longed cool weather. Coconuts like it warm. Most places that are warm enough in winter lack the summer warmth they love and enjoy. I say go for it anyways. good luck.
