Hi Lorena. Here is a great article on palm tree cold protection. I would start by spraying it with freezepruf. If it gets very cold, wrap the trunk with a blanket for the night. During palms require much less water. ~Susan Brian

I planted a small Christmas palm last summer. We are just starting the winter with temperatures of 32F (at the most) at midnight and all the fronds are brown.
Should I cover it with a blanket or light weight sheet?
Also, do I have to water ir?

So I got a christmas palm seedling recently and I know about the maintenance and all but I'm trying to find a suitable area to plant it. My yard space is quite small so i just want to know one thing...how does the root grow? would it grow large enough to like damage concrete or walled areas?

Our Christmas Palms have the light green berries now. Should we cut those off, or leave them in place?

Hi Frank. Sorry to hear about your palms. Prune only fronds that are completely dead. Spray palms with Bonide Products Copper Fungicide to prevent bacterial and fungal infections. Keep watering it. Don't fertilize. Wait for about 6 months to see if it recovers. Also read my article "cold damaged palm tree care". Hope this helps. ~Susan Brian

My Christmas Palm got burnt in the cold last year. The fronds are all brown and it doesn't appear to be generating new ones or fruiting.

Can I save it? I keep peeling away the dead layers but it is not getting any new fronds.

Thanks in advance,

John (St. Petersburg)

I have a trio of christmas palms that dropped all of the fronds after the frosts here in Florida this winter. What can I do to revive these? The fronds are all removed leaving only the trunks. Please help.

my Christmas Palm are trying to make a come back from the cold Florida winter. But, has the new branches are coming up the middle of the trunk the tips are turning black and then drying out. What do I have to do to correct this problem. I banged some fertilizer spikes into the ground yesterday, and sprayed the branches with an insect killer.will that do it? Do they need additional treatment.
thank you

I cut the tops off my Cristmas Palm trees after the severe frost we had in Florida this winter because the leaves were all brown and dead looking, no green evident anywhere. Also the tops were very mushy to the touch. Have I killed these trees or will they eventually come back. My fiance said I cut the 'heart' off of them. Is this true???? The trunks do not seem to be drying out or dying and are no longer mushy. Can you help?????
